Elmer Rusco Collection. 1964-1972.

The Elmer Rusco Collection covers the years of 1964-1972. The majority of the information concentrates on 1969 and 1970, seen in correspondence and court cases. The education series details Clark County School District (CCSD) programs, plans, and court cases concerning racial integration. The Fahey series (named after Robert Fahey) contains information on welfare, Black employment, juvenile delinquency, race relations, poverty, and the Nevada Catholic Welfare Bureau. The Solutions Conference series covers CCSD staff training on the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Local 357 series consists of news articles, notes, correspondence and racial discrimination court cases involving the Electrical Union. The consent decree series details the number of minorities working at major hotels, their gender and the types of jobs held. Another Elmer Rusco Collection is housed at the Library of the University of Nevada, Reno, Special Collections Department.

Elmer R. Rusco received his academic training in political science. He attended the University of Kansas, receiving his B.A. in 1951, and his M.A. in 1952. He continued his schooling at the University of California, Berkeley, earning his Ph.D. in 1960. His doctoral dissertation entitled, Machine politics, California model : Arthur H.
